Location: Assumption Greek Orthodox Church | 8202 East Cactus Rd. Scottsdale, AZ
WHAT ARE INTERGENERATIONAL RETREATS?
Intergenerational Retreats are a free Pan-Orthodox weekend retreat for youth, young adults, parents, priests, youth workers, and anyone who cares about young people (in other words, everyone!) to connect with each other and grow closer to Christ.
Come and:
-
Learn to see Christ in the face of our neighbors
-
Reflect on the need for deep connection with others
-
See how God fills our deepest longings
-
Learn how we can all be ambassadors of God’s love to a hurting world
WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
OYM’s vision is to pass on a faith where every young person can encounter Christ, embody His Church, and engage the world in His Name. To make this vision possible, we are coming to you! We want to offer a space where pan-Orthodox communities can connect and explore what it means to encounter, embody, and engage!
WHO IS WELCOME?
Everyone is welcome! The retreat includes an adult track for anyone post high school age and a youth track for grades 6-12. All Orthodox jurisdictions are welcome!
HOW MUCH DOES THE RETREAT COST?
OYM’s Intergenerational Retreats are free! We want you to be in fellowship with other Orthodox Christians and grow closer to Christ together. So we are making this opportunity available to all without charge. But space is limited, so sign up today and invite a friend!

-
Saturday, January 18, 8:30am-5pm | Day-long retreat with a youth track (6th-12th grade) and an adult track for parents, ministry workers, and young adults.
Session Topics
-
Session 1: Beginning with the End in Mind (All ages)
As we begin the day, we consider the telos, the Cosmic End of all things: Union with God. In this session, we examine how the Church reveals the Kingdom of God that is both in our midst and that is yet to come, showing how everything (everything) is headed toward union with God and the fulfillment of our deepest longings.

-
Session 2: Who Do You Trust? (Youth)
In this breakout session, youth will spend time considering the nature of trust. We will explore what it means to learn to trust in God amidst the various voices in the world that may teach young people to trust themselves, their feelings, or even their possessions.

-
Session 2: What Do You Want? (Adults)
In this breakout sessions, adults will wrestle with the first question Jesus asks His disciples: What do you want? We will examine the nature and purpose of desire as the means by which we are invited to enter authentic communion with God.
-
Session 3: All in the Family (All ages)
Following lunch, we will reflect on what it means to be a member of the Family of God, and we will consider the ultimate destiny of the human person: Sainthood. We discuss how each human being is an icon of Christ and a work of beauty that is waiting to emerge.
